About the Sarah McLachlan School of Music
The Sarah McLachlan School of Music (SoM) provides no cost music education to underserved and at risk children and youth who face challenging cultural, social and economic circumstances. Students in grades 4-12 receive high quality music instruction in both contemporary and classical traditions including piano, guitar, percussion, choir, music and video production.
SoM is founded on a belief in the enriching power of music and the importance of creative community. The School reaches hundreds of young people every year, providing them with a secure and inspiring environment in which they can learn, practice and connect with others.
The Sarah McLachlan School of Music provides students with the space and guidance they need to express themselves. By experiencing the joy of music, they cultivate a feeling of pride and self-worth. Music ignites their passion and energy, giving them confidence, perseverance, self-esteem, creative thinking, teamwork skills, and determination needed for lifelong success.
